Why a surface drone line

The maritime domain is going through the same shift the air domain is — small, autonomous, cheap, and many. Ukraine’s USVs have demonstrated that attritable surface platforms can hold a battlefleet at risk. The same logic applies in reverse: defenders need an attritable surface picket that watches the coastline, the harbor approach, and the choke point so that capital ships and crewed patrol boats can be held for actual engagements.

Mission set

• Persistent coastal patrol and harbor approach surveillance
• Maritime interdiction support — cueing crewed assets onto contacts of interest
• EEZ / territorial-water awareness in low-density littoral environments
• Hostile-USV early warning and forward sensor screen
• SIGINT collection from a stable, host-of-opportunity platform at sea

• Software-defined autonomy stack reused from the air mesh — same secure C2, same adaptive RF sensing
• Attritable hardware: design choices driven by < $X per unit cost, not by surviving every encounter
• Mesh-native: groups of marine patrols cooperate the same way the air mesh does
• Secure-by-default communications with anti-jam waveform options

Status

Marine Patrol is a roadmap product line. We are actively seeking Navy / Coast Guard / NavalX partners for early concept exploration and Phase II / III follow-on funding once the airborne sensing and autonomy stack reaches qualification.
